Newly elected U.S. President Barack Obama said in an interview with the San Francisco Examiner that his CO2 cap-and-trade program would “bankrupt” anyone that fails to slash CO2 from a coal-fired power plant or coal-to-liquids (CTL) plant.

In the interview (audio file is available here: link to source document), Obama is asked about his earlier statement of support for clean-coal technologies including coal-to-liquids (CTL).
